Mazda Furai Concept (video)
The Mazda Furai concept car which makes its world premiere at the NAIAS in Detroit, Michigan, today (Sunday), celebrates 40 years of Mazda’s rotary engine and international motorsports heritage. The raciest interpretation of NAGARE design language to-date, Furai is the latest car in Mazda’s award-winning and highly acclaimed series of concept cars. Nagare (pronounced ‘na-ga-reh’), is the Japanese for ‘flow’ and the ‘embodiment of motion’.
Furai (pronounced ‘foo-rye’ – Japanese for ‘sound of the wind’) is the sort of car that could only come from a company that incorporates the ‘Soul of a Sports Car’ into everything it builds, but with an eye toward the future and the environment through the use of renewable fuels. Consequently, Furai is initially tuned to operate on 100 per cent ethanol, while research with partner BP into other future fuels, including ethanol/gasoline blends like E10, continues.

Paul Potts (video)
This is a terrific story from the show Britain's Got Talent. The audience has little expectation for this cell phone salesman, Paul Potts, until he brings them to their feet with an amazing performance of an extremely difficult opera song - Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma”. Within two minutes, Paul shows more emotion than all the contestants combined. I'm not into opera but even I had to watch this video a number of times.
Biography: Paul Potts was raised in Fishponds, Bristol, by his father Roland, a bus driver, and mother, Yvonne, a supermarket cashier. Paul has two brothers and one sister, and attended St. Mary Redcliffe school where he first developed his love of singing.
In the interview that was broadcast before his performance in the semi-final, Paul stated that he had trouble with being bullied in school, and that it may have had an influence on his lack of self-confidence.
Until June 19, 2007 Potts worked as a manager at the Bridgend Carphone Warehouse, a mobile phone store around 8 miles from his home town.
On June 9, 2007, Potts' audition of Simon Cowell's new search-for-a-star show Britain's Got Talent was televised on ITV in UK. The actual audition was held at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff on March 17, 2007. Paul sang a condensed version of Giacomo Puccini's "Nessun dorma", which impressed the judges and received a standing ovation from the audience of 2,000 people.
In the semi-final on June 14, 2007, Potts performed main verses of "Con te partirò" with praise from the audience and judges.

A Mother had 3 virgin daughters and they were all getting married within a short time period. Because Mom was a bit worried about how their sex life would get started, she made them all promise to send a postcard from the honeymoon with a few words on how marital sex felt.
The first girl sent a card from Hawaii two days after the wedding. The card said nothing but "Nescafe". Mom was puzzled at first, but then went to the kitchen and got out the Nescafe jar. It said:
"Good till the last drop".
Mom blushed, but was pleased for her daughter.
The second girl sent the card from Vermont a week after the wedding, and the card read: "Benson & Hedges". Mom now knew to go straight to her husband's cigarettes, and she read from the Benson & Hedges pack:
"Extra Long. King Size".
She was again slightly embarrassed but still happy for her daughter.
The third girl left for her honeymoon in the Caribbean. Mom waited for a week, nothing. Another week went by and still nothing. Then after a whole month, a card finally arrived.
Written on it with shaky handwriting were the words "British Airways". Mom took out her latest Harper's Bazaar magazine, flipped through the pages fearing the worst, and finally found the ad for BA. The ad said:
"Three times a day, seven days a week, both ways."
Mom fainted...

Do cats talk? (video)
Seems like they do
Do they?
Yes. Here's the translation
www.talking-cats.com:CATS TALK!
Of course, they do. We all know that. But what do they say and what do they think? Well, take a look at these pictures of talking and thinking cats and find out.
Yahoo! Answers
The other day my cat Choo-Choo started to talk she said "Hello play piano go go!" It was sooo creepy is this normal?
Absolutely! My cat says, "Feed me now!" and "Open the door to the bedroom!" and "I want out" and "Pet me!" and other such things. It comes out as a meow, though. If you're hearing actual words, lay off the acid and put down the prescription pain pills!
That was cute. Thanks! :-D

Mazda RX-8 Facelift (quoted from carscoop.blogspot.com)

A full set of images featuring the revised Mazda RX-8 have found their way on several Japanese sites today, prior to the car’s public debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon on January 11 and at the Detroit Show on January 13. The car you see in these pictures is the all-new RX-8 RS version which will be available only in Japan. Alloy wheels, aerokit and Recaro bucket seats apart, the US and consequently, the European version of the facelifted RX-8 will feature the same styling changes as the JDM model.
Outside, the 2009 RX-8 gets a new front fascia that includes slightly redesigned headlamps, a new bumper with larger air intakes and a revised grille. In the car’s rear-end, there’s a revised bumper along with new tail-lights. In the interior, the only significant change seems to be the slightly redesigned centre-console. Since there’s no press release out yet, we don’t know whether Mazda proceeded to any mechanical upgrades.

More on Powerballs (video)
My previous post was about me ordering one.
Just in case anyone thought the powerball is a toy:
That is Akis Kritsinelis a.k.a. "The Machine" from Greece. He has the WORLD RECORD with 20K+ rotations per minute. Here's how he did it:
Powerball Classic (video)
I just ordered one from BezPanika.com. So here's some info on "powerball":
powerballs.com - the official site
More about Powerball (quoted from Wikipedia)
Powerball is a trademarked name for gyroscopic exercise devices produced by Nanosecond (NSD). Later patents for the Powerball device cover its extra features such as revolution counters and gyro-powered LED lights. The light-emitting diodes are powered by a small generator embedded in the gyroscope.
The toy itself is a small ball made of plastic or metal, and is commonly marketed as a gyroscopic wrist exerciser. It can be started with a short rip string or by a snap of the thumb. Once the gyroscope inside is going fast enough, a person holding it in his hand can accelerate the gyroscope to incredibly high revolution rates by following a circular wrist motion with the device. Modern devices come with electronic revolution counters (current record is 18,656rpm, set by Akis Kritsinelis from Greece see video ). Kritsinelis has also set a 90 second strength record of 20,082 revolutions see video.
Other Powerball models on the market today are the "Powerball 350Hz Metal" and "NSD SuperPowerBall". These powerballs are made primarily of metal and have twice the weight of "regular" Powerball models. They are also more difficult to operate since 250Nm of torque is produced when the internal rotor is rotating at high revolution rates.
In December 2006, a new Powerball model was introduced called the "Powerball Signature". This powerball is made of mirror-gray plastic and features "sapphire" white LEDs and a much more stable rotor. The link shows an operational Powerball Signature model [1].
In the summer of 2007 a new model of Powerball was created called the "Powerball Screamer". The Screamer is based off the Powerball 250Hz model, however, it has 8 holes drilled in the rotor itself. These holes generate a very loud sound comparable to other powerballs even when the "Screamer" is rotating at much lower speeds. For example, the sound of this powerball rotating at 10,000 RPM is almost equal to the sound of a regular Powerball rotating at 15,000 RPM.
Nanosecond's Powerball was the first to feature electronic revolution counters and a generator for light-emitting diodes, both of which made it attractive for professional and educational use.
At first glance, the physics of this device appear confusing. However, they are surprisingly simple and can easily be understood with a little knowledge of gyroscopes. Their striking property is that the axis of a spinning gyroscope will resist a force applied to it and will start rotating perpendicular to the force applied.
The axis of the gyroscope in the gyro Powerball is fixed to the spinning mass and it rests in a little groove inside the wrist exercise device. The device almost completely covers the gyroscope inside it except for a small round opening on top wherin you manually start the gyroscope. Once the gyroscope is spinning, tipping the device will cause the gyroscope to start precessing, with its axis slipping around in the groove in a circular fashion. The groove inside the device is a little wider than the axis, and the gyroscope's evasive action towards the externally applied force will cause one end of the axis to push against the upper rim of the groove, while the other end of the axis pushes against the lower rim of the groove. While the axis is slipping around inside the groove, the friction between the axis and the groove rims will accelerate or brake the spinning gyroscope, with a maximum effect when the axis starts "rolling" inside the groove. Since this friction force is essential for the device's operation, the groove must not be lubricated. The acceleration of the gyroscope is best when the precession of the gyroscope is supported and amplified by wrist motion.
It takes a while before one finds the "rolling" point, but the gyro will also be accelerated to a smaller extent by the slipping friction.
The device is covered by US patents 3,726,146 (1973) and 5,353,655 (1994) by L.A. Mishler and US patent 5,800,311 (1998) by P.S.Chuang and 6,942,601 (2001) by P.S. Chuang

The Fast and The Furious
Mazda RX-7
from The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift
by www.tuningmag.net

As a second car used in the movie comes Han's Mazda RX-7. We have seen RX-7 in all Fast and Furious movies, but I have to admire, that it was the best modified in this sequel. But it's a pitty that the scenario was written like this amazing car will "fall for mother land".Exterior:
By the meaning of mine Mazda RX-7 is the best tuned car in the film, even though it is not playing the main role. The look of exterior has been given by Veilside, that has placed enlarged bodykit, named Veilside Fortune RX-7 Body Kit, on this four-wheeled gas-powered devil. The front bumper is divided into one central and two side sections (fullfilled by gray metal-mantles), that are guiding the air into the cooler of the engine and balancing the pressure on the both axles, at the same time. Wide Body (elnarging bodykit), have secured the aerodinamics and also higher security of the car, in the way, that it guides cool air into both (front and back) brake discs, and takes away the hot air from them. The back side of the car is as same as front side very smoothly modified. On the bottom side we can find diffuser, that regulates the stream of air under and past the car.
The pressing wing is making a bigger pressure on the rear axle and also on the powered wheels. The wing is painted into the color of chassis. The serial side-mirrors have been changed into sporty "F1 style". The contact with road is work of 5-rayed chromatic wheels made by Veilside Andrew EVO-V (19x9 inches in the front and 19x12 inches in the back). These discs are slippered into Pirelli P Zero's tyres with measures 255/30 ZR19 (in the front) and 315/25 ZR19 (in the back). The sporty look is also underlined by color combination used on the car. Black and shiny orange (PBC31 Sunset), made by House Of Kolor.Interior:
The interior of Mazda RX-7 is sophisticated into every small detail. As it should be in every tuned car. Very comfortable and secure seats from Veilside company model D1 R and seat belts from Sparco is very attractive combination. About every piece of car is driver informed by EURO meters (Complet Meter Set). These clocks are also informing about the NOS system, that's bottle is situated between the seats. It is clear thing, that tuners are mad into good music. And in this sweety we have quite excellent equipment:
DVD stereo: Sanyo Model ECD - T1780DV 8" monitor: Alpine TVE - T850 Amplifier: Alpine MRV - F450 Subwoofer: Alpine WR - 1221D Repros: Alpine SPR - 174A Installation: Veilside Performance:
Completely tuned engine was made by Veilside. Modifiers have installed control unit Apexera Power FC, Turbokit T042 and intercooler by HKS, gas pumps GT-R and carbon conjunction from ATS. Car's deep thunder-sound is work of modified exhaust Veilside Titanium. High performance had to be offset by security of armature's brake system. These modifications made the rotary moment into 306 horse powers (225kW by 6650 powers in minute). This car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds and 400 metres distance will break in 14,1 seconds (ending speed 168,1 km/h)

Why does the Mazda lose? (video)
The question "Why does the Mazda lose when it has a pole position?" has a simple answer. The RX-8 is not as powerful as its oponents in this video. It is better in the turns. I guess this track has too much straights so the BMWs can easily outrun all other cars.
This video only shows that Mazda RX-8 is not as sporty as BMW M5 and M3. Nor is a sportscar like Nissan 350Z or Honda S2000 ...
Me - The Drag Racer (video)
In fact I have nothing to do with drag racing. That's just a "funny" way to title this post. The one and only time I've tried dragging was on 16.09.2007 at a meeting of Mazda Club Bulgaria. So here is a video:
Some of you maybe know that I am driving the blue Mazda 323S. The car next to, or should I say "behind" mine is KoRn_Val's Mazda 323F. Both cars have the same engine: Z5 (1.5i 16V, 88hp). I just started better...

Save the bear!
SonnyRadio.com have published an article named "Bear On A Bridge". Here's what it's all about:

A bear was walking across the "Rainbow Bridge" in Truckee California, on the I-80, California / Nevada State line, when two cars also crossed the bridge from both directions. The bear was so scared, with no place to run, made a leap over the side of the bridge.
The motorists stopped their cars in horror of what just happened and ran to the edge to see how badly the bear was injured.
To their amazement, they saw that the bear had somehow grasped the lower ledge of the bridge support as it fell and pulled itself back up.
The authorities were notified that night and after making an assessment, they decided there was nothing that could be done until the following morning. Authorities returned at day break to find the bear sleeping on the ledge of the bridge support.
A large, construction style, safety net was hung under the bridge and the bear was shot with a tranquilizing dart; then safely lowered to the ground below.

Bulgarian Reality (video)
A few months ago a new part of one of the Bulgarian highways was finished. Nova TV (a Bulgarian national television) made a reportage on the strange things that happend the next day.
So what's wrong with this road (for those who don't understand Bulgarian) is that the highway ends with a circular intersection and there are no signs informing drivers of that. The only sign available is "speed limit - 90 km/h".
Welcome to Bulgaria!
